Now, for the Back Story on GM foods . . .

"There is a revolution happening in the farm fields and on the dinner tables of America -- a revolution that is transforming the very nature of the food we eat.

THE FUTURE OF FOOD offers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade."

Wow! Watched the video. Amazing! How do you know if you are buying GM foods? From what I understand, GM foods don't have to be labeled? Is that right? Oh, I wish I had my own farm right now!

Our hens have stopped laying. I forgot if you have hens also? We do buy them "feed" to supplement the bugs they find in the yard. The feed seems to help their eggs have stronger shells, but I wonder....

I need more info!

You can buy organic, because at this point organic standards do not allow for GM tecnology. You can avoid the foods that so far are genetically modified: corn, soy, canola, cottonseed (as oil used in some foods), papaya from Hawaai, and--this year--beet sugar.

Go here for more info:

and to download a shopping guide.

I know organic feed is expensive, but non-organic is sure to have GM ingredients. There are recipes on the web for a homemade feed . . .

Good luck! (no, we have no hens--I wish--we live in an apartment)
